Tax Advantage Giving Option
If you are subject to make a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) from your qualified retirement plan, you may benefit from making a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD).
- If you are 70-1/2 or older you may donate up to $108,000 tax-free from your IRA directly to a qualified charity as a QCD. This counts toward satisfying an RMD, but it does not increase your taxable income.
This provision can be particularly beneficial for those in higher tax brackets or those seeking to avoid increased Medicare premiums.
